虽然我是韩国人但对我来说,老师感到很难。我没上到学生们那么厉害。

Weekend Getaways from Busan

As Busan is located down south, it is easy to get to all the other southern cities for those who enjoy travelling. Below we share with you a couple of nearby cities that you can head out to explore over the weekends.

Geoje Island & Tongyeong

Located only 1.5 hours drive away, you can easily take a day trip to Geoje Island or perhaps even a weekend away to both Geoje and Tongyeong.

The Windy Hill is one of the most popular attraction in Geoje featuring a Dutch-type windmill atop a glass-covered steep hill. Also check out Oedo-Botania, a marine botanical garden with the ocean in the background and various sculptures. Seafood lovers would find Geoje an absolute paradise especially since sliced raw fish is known to be the signature dish of Geoje. Make sure to also try 게장 [ge-jang] raw crabs marinated in soy sauce or sweet spicy chilli sauce.

A bridge connects Geoje to Tongyeong that takes less than an hour’s drive. Jangsado Sea Park is not to be missed, with a plethora of flora and fauna to explore. Another attraction to check out is the quaint Dongpirang Mural Village that has no wall left uncovered, good for photos and your social media feed. Whilst you’re in Tongyeong, make sure to try the honey bread – deep fried balls that are filled with red bean, green bean, sweet potato, or chestnut, then honey-glazed and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

Ulsan

You can easily catch the train or bus from to get to Ulsan, located a short hour ride away up north from Busan. Home to of one of the world’s largest shipbuilders, you are able to get a tour of Hyundai Heavy Industries whilst in Ulsan.

Other highlights you are able to check out whilst in Ulsan include Ulsan Grand Park, Daewangam Park, Jangsaengpo Whale Museum, Taehwa River Grand Park, Ulsan Museum, Paraeso Falls, Ganjeolgot Cape, Bangudae Cliff, Seoknamsa Temple and Hongryu Falls In Sinbulsan Mountain.

Gyeongju

Home to a remarkable number of historical sites from the Silla Kingdom, you will find many giant tombs around – they are the resting place of kings and nobles. Many visit Gyeongju to visit the Bulguksa Temple, designated UNESCO World Heritage site followed by Seokguram Grotto, which is also a must visit as it contains the famous Bonjon statue, one of Korea’s national treasure.

It is also recommended to then catch the sunset at Cheomsongdae Observatory then head to the beautiful man-made Anapji Pond at night, when it beautifully reflects the orange lights from the palace building.

Jeju Island

A short 50-minutes plane ride away from Busan, the island’s beautiful beaches, lush countryside, and seaside hotels are designed for a good relaxing weekend trip. There are plenty to do on the island, and whilst a weekend trip away may not suffice, you can always return again. Those who prefer to be active can hike up Hallasan, South Korea’s highest mountain, or UNESCO World Heritage Sites Seongsan Ilchul-bong.

Jeju Island is also a nature’s paradise with pristine beaches and breathtaking waterfalls namely the Jeongbang, Cheonjeyeon and Cheonjiyeon Falls. It is also worth checking out yet another UNESCO site for huge lava tubes at Manjanggul Cave. If you’re a fan of tea, the O’Solluc Green Tea farm is also worth checking out.

There are heaps to do at Jeju and perhaps just a weekend away would not cut it, but you can always fly back in to Jeju given its close proximity to Busan.

There are plenty of other cities to the south of Korea that one can go on weekend trips, such as Daegu, Suncheon, Jinju, Namhae, Boseong, and Gwangju, just to name a few. But for those who need to make a quick visa run to extend your stay in South Korea, we’ve listed Japan as one of our Top 5 weekend trip getaway destination from Busan.

Japan – Tsushima Island or Fukuoka

Both Tsushima Island and Fukuoka are the nearest from Busan for those wanting a short trip out of the country.

You can catch the 1.5 hour ferry ride to Tsushima Island, spend the day indulging in some Japanese local food then come back in the evening. If you’re up for a weekend away, you can get to Fukuoka either by ferry or plane.

Must-Eat Busan Local Delicacy

Every city offer their specific local delicacy and of course, Busan is also no different. Below we share with you the must-eats that best represents Busan. 

Fresh Seafood 해산물

Busan located close to the ocean, boasts a plethora of the freshest seafood. One is able to enjoy a variety of different seafood at Jagalchi Market, known to be the largest fish market in Korea. Make sure not to miss out on raw fish if you’re in Busan!

You may also want to check out 영도 해녀촌 [hae-nyeo-chun] which is nestled between Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach. There the “hae-nyeo” or better known as women divers spend the day free-diving more than 20 feet deep to harvest seafood by hand. Their catch are then served fresh to customers. Enjoy the beautiful view of the coastline whilst you dig into the freshest seafood!

Dwaeji Gukbap 돼지국밥

Pork rice soup is one of Busan’s most popular local delicacies. Packed with earthy flavours, pork rice soup is a hearty, dense soup that will be sure to kick start your day right.

Mil-myeon 밀면

Another culinary staple in Busan is definitely mil-myeon which is cold wheat noodles usually served with shredded cucumbers, boiled eggs, and meat slices in cold icy broth or dry but mixed with sweet, spicy chilli sauce. Usually restaurants that serve mil-myeon often also serves steamed dumplings which goes well with the cold noodles.

Eo-muk 어묵

Fish cakes are a popular street snacks in Korea, but Busan takes pride in extra delicious fish cakes. You will find many road side stalls that sells eo-muk and also fishcake specialty stores where many would buy fish cakes as souvenirs or gifts.

Ssi-at Hotteok 시앗호떡

For those with a sweet tooth, ssiat hotteok is not to be missed. This sweet pancake is stuffed with cinnamon-flavoured brown sugar and filled with sunflower seeds and nuts. There are many hotteok carts especially in the Nampo-dong alleys, close to where the BIFF square is.

Korean Pancake with Squid (찌짐 & 오징어)

찌짐 [pronounced jji-jim] is the Busan dialect for 파전 [pa-jeon] Korean pancakes. The mixture in red is a combination of vegetables and fresh squid mixed in sweet spicy sauce. You’re supposed to mix a bit of the pancake with the spicy vegetable mixure as shown on the picture on the left. This is a dish only available in Busan and can be found at the street food stalls in Nampo-dong.

Beach Season in Busan

Busan, located along the beautiful coastline, is the second largest city in South Korea and has a relaxing and laidback holiday-resort-city vibe to it, with beautiful beaches, making Busan a popular summer tourist spot for both tourists and locals alike. Today we’ll be sharing with you the Top 5 beaches in Busan that you can visit during summer!

Haeundae Beach

For most, Haeundae Beach is what first comes to mind when they think of Busan. As the icon of Busan, the white sandy shores become packed with beachgoers during the day and party animals in the evening in summer. You will find the beach covered with beach umbrellas from end-to-end for those wanting to enjoy some beachside relaxation, those wanting a bit more of an adrenaline rush enjoy the water sports such as jet-skiiing and banana boat rides.

Gwangalli Beach

Whilst Haeundae may be the most popular beach, Gwangalli beach is not too far behind especially with the majestic Gwangan Bridge that spans across the sea. Known also as the diamond bridge when it is beautifully lit up at night, Gwangalli has a more romantic vibe where visitors are able to stroll on the beach and feel the sea breeze caress their faces. There are also lots of restaurants, cafes and trendy beachside bars you may want to stop at for a bite or a drink. During summer, the beach turns into a stage offering entertainment to visitors in the form of busking, magic shows or dance performances.

Songdo Beach

The main attraction at Songdo Beach is the 365-meter long skywalk that is built above sea with glass bottom, allowing visitors to watch the crashing waves underneath. The skywalk is open and well lit until 11pm so visitors can enjoy the beautiful nightscape. There is also cable car service where visitors are able to allow visitors to travel from Songnim Park to Annam Park and see the area from a different perspective.

Songjeong Beach

Known as a surfer’s paradise, Songjeong’s shallow waters, gentle waves and warm water temperature make this beach surfer-friendly all year round. Songjeong is a more secluded option for those who are not big fans of the crowd. On the right edge of the beach facing the ocean, there is also Gudeokpo Café Street where café-goers are able to enjoy their hand-drip coffee and desserts with the view of the ocean.

Dadaepo Beach

The sunset at Dadaepo is so magnificient that it attracts many amateur photogprahers who want to capture the beautiful sunset, whilst many families visit Dadaepo to enjoy the mud flats. It is recommended to visit Dadaepo during when the sun sets to also catch the Sunset of Fountain Dreams – a huge musical fountain that comes to life at night, and water that shoots as high as 55 meters dances to the variety genres of background music.

한국의 전통 음식 잡채 만들기

오늘은  바로바로  korean kichen day~!

오늘 외국인 친구들과 함께 한 요리는 한국에서 잔칫날 자주 먹는 ‘잡채’를 만들어 봤어요.

재료 손질부터 마무리까지 즐거운 시간을 보냈답니다.

수업을 준비한 선생님보다 더 요리를 잘하는 친구들이에요.

잡채만 먹으면 심심하지 않을까 싶어 밥을 가지고 잡채밥’을 만들어 먹었어요!!

그런데 여러분 서울 잡채밥과 부산 잡채밥이 다르다는 것을 아시나요?

서울에서는 밥 위에 잡채만 올리지만, 부산에서는 잡채밥을 먹을 때 짜장과 함께 먹는답니다.

부산에 왔으니 ‘부산식 잡채밥’ 먹어야겠죠?
